I said it's great to be a Mountaineer!

The concert Tuesday night was fuuuuuuun. It took Andrea and I forever to get there because all roads between here and Concord were closed. But we made it to the show just in time for the Goo. They were good! I reeeeeeally liked the Counting Crows though! We didn't get home until almost 1am that night, and I am still quite sleeeeepy from that. We were supposed to be going to the last Thirsty Thursday of the season tonight, but it looks like Ernesto is going to cancel that. We might just go out to eat with some friends instead. I am sooooooooo excited about Saturday! Allison and I are meeting so many people to tailgate- I just hope we can find everyone! Thank goodness for cell phones. And it looks like the weather won't be a problem afterall!

I GOT TICKETS!!!

YAY!!! Allison and I will be sitting in the Appalachian section at the State game on Saturday! A very nice man who is not able to go sold me his 2 tickets for $30 each. A good deal, I say! Now we just have to figure out all of the tailgating details...
Tonight, Andrea and I are meeting Dave at the Counting Crows/Goo Goo Dolls concert in Raleigh. I'm not a huge fan of the Goo, but I love me some Counting Crows! Woo!

I have a new sister!!!

Ben and Carrie got married Saturday! The wedding was in Roswell, GA in Carrie's mom's backyard. It was such a pretty ceremony. Very small and intimate. There were 12 people there to watch, and it was sooooo nice! Here are all the pictures that I took. I can't wait to see the professional photographer's pictures. The happy couple is off on a one-month honeymoon which will take them all over the US to visit friends and family and to go on all new adventures together. After that, they move into their new house in Chattanooga, TN! (So when Appalachian makes it to the final game again in December, we'll have a place to stay this time!)

Can't you see the sunshine, Can't you just feel the moonshine

I realized this morning that I am not going to have anything to wear to the Appalachian game in Raleigh next weekend because all of my App gear is for the cold mountain weather. So, this means that a trip to Boone is a must, and Allison has wholeheartedly agreed to join me. We're going to take off work early tomorrow afternoon and go up the mountain. I am quite excited about going since it's been so long since my last trip there. We are going to go shopping on King St, then we'll sit outside at the Shroom for some pizza and beer before heading back down the mountain. aaah, it makes me happy just thinking about it!

cha-cha-cha

August has been education month for Katie. After a week at mapping school, I came back to work for 3 days, then I went to Charlotte for a class Thursday-Friday. I drove down there Wednesday night to stay at my cousin Thom's house. He and Kim were so nice and hospitable the whole time I was there. And they have a KITTEN!!! I went to see Mama Elise (my 96 year-old grandmother) who kept telling me that I wasn't Katie anymore! (Thanks Mom!) See, Mama Elise gets my mom and I confused because we are both the youngest in the family. Apparently, the last time Mom was visiting, she kept telling Mama Elise that she is not Katie or that she is not Katie anymore. So, when I told her I was Katie, she got very angry with me and told me that I am not Katie anymore. Then I asked if she'd rather call me Kathryn, and she said that both of those names are ugly. ~sigh~
When I got home Friday afternoon, Daniel and I met up with a bunch of whoopacog people at El Paso. Saturday morning, we went TUBING for Daniel's birthday weekend! Sarah came down from Virginia, and we met Daniel's mom, his aunt, his cousin David, and Shane and Heidi at the river. It was so much fun! We all went out to eat in Tryon afterwards, then Daniel, Sarah, and I went to Blockbuster for some movies when we got back to Hickory. We watched Failure to Launch with SJP and Matthew McConahoweveryouspellit. Bad movie, but MM is very nice to look at. We also watched Brokeback Mountain- Fabulous. Movie.
Sunday was Daniel's birthday, so we had a cookout at our house. Mike and Laurie, Allison, Andrea, and Erica came over for that. I was happy that it was nice enough to sit outside on the deck to eat too. We ate too much, but we all had a good time. (And no coolers were thrown in my kitchen this year!) Now it's back to work. =b I have 5 hours of comp time that I have to use this week, so at least I will be able to leave early on a couple of days!

1 Chain = 66 feet = 4 Poles = 100 Links

I passed my mapping exam! Woo! It was a loooong week, but I had a lot of fun. The line dancing was a scary thing to watch, and my new friend Sarah and I escaped to the hotel bar before they could drag us out on the dance floor. All the other nights were fun though. I haven't gone to bed on time in over week, so last night I crashed at 9:30. I'm in Greensboro for Pig's baby shower. It's at 2:00 this afternoon, then I am headed HOME to do laundry and love on my kitties! Daniel is in Savannah with all the boys for Ben's bachelor party until tomorrow. They won't have near as much fun as we had at the bachelorette party, but I'm sure they'll have a good time. Then it's back to work on Monday. :b But only for a few days, since we have a class in Charlotte on Thursday and Friday.

I'll leave you with this ever-so-important information that is now clogging my brain:
  • 1 Chain = 66 feet = 4 Poles = 100 Links
  • 1 acre = 43,560 sq feet
  • 1 sq mile = 640 acres
  • The azimuth of an angle is the number of degrees from the meridian clockwise to the bearing of the line.
  • When a married couple buys a house together, they are tenants by the entirety, when they become divorced, they become tenants in common until a deed is recorded stating otherwise.
  • (n-2)180 = the sum of all the angles in a closed polygon with n being the number of sides.
  • In order to determine the angle between 2 bearings that fall within the same quadrant, add the bearings together and subtract the total from 180 degrees.

RED RING! RED RING!

BEST. BACHELORETTE. PARTY. EVAH.

We drank, we danced, we got dressed up in boas and beads, we laughed until we cried... It was a great weekend, and I can't think of any other girls I could've spent it with and had as much fun! Sarah got a toad thrown at her, Katie put toothpaste on her neck, Carrie did the trance dance, Callie provided us with therapy, and I took allllllll the pictures! Go over here to see them all. Well, you don't get to see them ALL because what happened in Wilmington stays in Wilmington!

Now I am in my old stomping grounds of Winston Salem for mapping school. "Class" was about 2 hours this afternoon, and we have a reception at 6:30 tonight. I hear there's going to be a line dance instructor there... should be interesting...

woah woah yeah. woah woah yeah.

I am BEACH BOUND tomorrow!!!! Carrie, Sarah, Katie, Callie, and I are headed to Wilmington to throw Carrie The. Best. Bachelorette. Party. Ever. In between partying and bar-hopping, we'll be going to the beach and getting some sun! We'll come back Sunday, but then Monday morning, I am headed to Winston Salem for mapping school for the week so I can get my NC Mappers Certification (and a RAISE!). So at least I won't have to be in the office all next week. I'm bringing my laptop with me because the hotel we're staying at does have wifi, but I don't promise any new posts... we'll see...
Then the next weekend is
Pig's baby shower that I'm throwing her! Yay! It's quite an interesting thing to shop at Party City for both a bachelorette party and a baby shower at the same time. 'tis odd. While I'm gone, check out Miss Chris's rundown of her Hawaii trip, and be jealous like I was!

These are my ANGRY EYES.

So, tickets for the Appalachian vs. NC State game sold out today in 58 minutes. WHAT'S THAT ALL ABOUT?! I am soooooooo sad. I already have a place to stay in Raleigh and everything. I guess I'll still go and tailgate with everyone then head to a bar somewhere to watch the game. :( I went ahead and bought my tickets for the ASU/Furman and ASU homecoming games because they were almost all gone too. I guess I will have to wait and see if I can get tickets for the other games as the time comes.

In other news, it's freakin' 100 degrees with crazy humidity and I am about to go outside and wash my car.
