Results from my Photo Scavenger Hunt... FINALLY!

They are finally here! The photos from the scavenger hunt ya'll sent me on!

For Allison and Michelle, this is my favorite spot in Hickory. It’s the porch of El Paso restaurant, and it’s a great place to sit and watch the sun go down on a nice night. (Look, it’s slim pickin’s here for my "favorite" spot!)

Here is all of the past and cheese that is in my house for Pigs:

Pigs also wanted to see a cat sleeping on my head, but that is not an easy picture to take. Mainly because he doesn’t do that in the summer- it’s too hot. Here is a comic strip that shows exactly what he does though:

Here is our county animal shelter for Michelle. I took this one from my car because there are lots and lots of cops down there since the justice center is right across the street.

Here are some pictures of my desk. We don’t have cubes, it’s just 3 of us in a big room. My computer used to be on the desk in front of the window, but that just didn’t work for me since everyone could see my monitor!

cousineddie wanted to see my hair first thing in the morning... yikes!

Here is Buddha’s left back pinky toe for cousineddie. It took a few attempts to get the toe because Buddha doesn’t like to be touched anywhere below his neck. So I had to wait for him to flop down. He got really annoyed at me for taking so many pictures too- hence, the look on his face.

This is the oldest make-up that I own. They are the same color, and I haven't worn lipstick since college, but they are still at the bottom of my make-up bag:MakeUp

…. and my ugliest pair of shoes: My Birks. I love these shoes. I got them my freshman year at App, and they are very well-worn. They need to be re-corked, but I probably won’t get that done- they are too comfy the way they are!

I know that I didn't get all of the pictures requested, for example, the freaky Kohl's employee... I made 2 different trips to Kohl's to take his picture, and he was not working either time! It started to feel weird stalking a stalker, so I gave up on that picture! I also was not able to get a picture of the stars on a clear night- this is the south, and it is the summertime- that means STORMS every night, so there have been many cloudy nights lately. Sorry!!!

Leanin’ to the side but you can’t speed through. Two miles an hour so everybody sees you.

Here are my Top Ten Favorite things of Summer 2005:

5. US Weekly Magazine. I used to be a devoted People subscriber, but when I was offered 4 free issues of US, I was hooked. I cancelled my People subscription and signed onto US immediately (for only 95 cents an issue!). It’s like I told Pigs when we were at the beach and we had a plethora of US Weekly and People magazines to work through, "You know, there’s just too much about people in People". She agreed noting that the entire US magazine is completely devoted to nothing but celebrity trash and gossip; none of this feel-good mess about people I don’t know.

4. My favorite beach read this summer was "The Second Assistant, A Tale from the Bottom of the Hollywood Ladder" by Clare Naylor and Mimi Hare. The main character in this book is the second assistant to a big-time Hollywood agent, and she tells of the humiliating, demeaning things that she has to do for her job. It’s a great guilty pleasure book full of celebrity gossip goodness. Love it.

3. Mariah Carey’s new cd, The Emancipation of Mimi, is going to have lots of hits on the radio; in fact, there are already 3 out there. I love this cd, and it’s all I listen to these days. Well, that and the new Better Than Ezra- it is also a great cd for the summer- especially for driving!

2. The Borg Assimilator flying coaster at Carowinds. This is the most awesome roller coaster EVER. You lie down on your back like a bed, and for the majority of the ride you are facing down. It goes crazy-high and has 8 different loops and corkscrews- all of this at maximum speeds of 51 mph – it ROCKS.

1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I can’t wait until I get to see it again. It’s funny and silly and colorful and heartwarming and sarcastic and…

"Good morning starshine the earth says hello." And it has great lines!

Even I'm eatable. But that is called cannibalism, my dear children, and is, in fact, frowned upon in most societies.

For anyone who has not yet seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- it is a must see for all ages!!! I was torn when I heard it was coming out; I thought for sure that it would ruin my thoughts of the original, and that no one could top Gene Wilder's Wonka. I heard a few good reviews about the new one though, and I really like Johnny Depp, so I went to see it on it's opening night last Friday.

It. Was. Fantabulous.

I would not compare the old with the new, because they are so different. The basic plot and story are obviously the same, but the new movie follows the book more accurately than the old movie did. And Johnny Depp, as always, became the character. He was SO great as Willy Wonka. Think Michael Jackson, minus the whole molestation part. He was funny, sarcastic, witty, and only a wee bit creepy at times, but not scary by any means. Willy Wonka and I would have been good friends.
I'm planning to see it again soon so that Daniel can see it with me, and I definitely plan on buying the DVD when it comes out. So, if you haven't already seen it, you can't miss it! Go see it this weekend and let me know what you think!!!

Cat on a Cold Wet Roof

I’m working on the photos – I promise I will get them posted soon! Ya’ll have me running all over town- I feel like I’m on a photo scavenger hunt! Until then, I have a kitty story to tell…

A couple of weeks ago, Daniel and I went to visit his parents for the weekend. We brought Maggie and Buddha with us because they had been left alone for 2 weeks while we went on our beach trips. Daniel’s parents have 2 dogs and 2 cats, so a weekend at their house with our cats is usually pretty eventful! This time around though, there wasn’t much drama between all of the animals except when Taffy tried to knock Buddha off the 2-story-high deck.

Saturday night, Daniel and I went out with some friends in Asheville and got home around midnight. We went to bed only to be woken up a few hours later by a loud crash above our heads. Daniel looked out the window where the screen had just popped out, and saw a cat on the roof below our window. "Is that one of ours?" he asked me in his foggy sleepy state. "No, I didn’t see one of ours sitting in the window," I helpfully replied in my own deep sleep. As I dozed, I could hear Daniel walking across the wet roof (barefoot and in his underoos). Next thing I know, Maggie comes flying in through the window and crashes into the wall! Then Daniel clambers back in through the window cursing and bleeding. "Stupid cat went all the way to the edge of the roof before I could finally grab her."

I’m happy to report that, despite crashing face-first into the wall, Maggie is fine. And Daniel survived with minor scratches, and made it to his golf game the next morning just fine.

What's new Copycat? WOAH-OH-OH-OH-WOAH!!!

I'm back from all of my vacations, and now I am going to be bored. I need something to do to keep me occupied, and you can help! Cousineddie started this picture game, then Pigs copied her, and now it's my turn. Thankfully, I don't have as big of a following as those 2 in the Blogger world, so I won't have to do as many! Let me know what you want to see about me or anything or anyone around me. Be creative!
