Yeah. Yeah, Yeah...

So, Apparently, I need to write a new post... Last weekend ROCKED. The beer festival was SO. MUCH. FUN. (Although, in the past 3 years, which Hickory Hops wasn't fun?!) This year, Daniel and I got Allison, Andrea, Michelle, Heath, and John B. on the list for "workers", so we had some extra help for guarding the gates. After I was mistaken for a hooker by a homeless guy, Michelle told Heath that she would NOT be leaving me alone at my gate, and he was on his own. (For the record, I was fully covered, and not at all hooker-ish, and the homeless man was still drunk from the night before. Don't be thinking that I was some floozy workin' the beer fest.) Anthony, Deanna, Laura, Monte, and Cassie all came at some point in the afternoon, and John H. and Emily showed up after that. So, the gang was all there, and much fun was had by all. I got to drink my most favoritist beer ever (Red Oak, from Greensboro, NC- my hometown) and we all got to catch up and talk. There was only one really bad storm that hit us; and Andrea, Allison, John M., and I all took shelter in the bus station with 2 Hickory City Cops who were so cool. (They were also my protectors after they became aware of the whole hooker-incident.) After the beer fest, we all went to El Paso and took up pretty much the entire porch outside. There was a little drama, but drinking beer all day will do that to people.... All was good. A few of us went out after El Paso, and had more fun, then we all went home and a few people crashed at our house for the night. It was a fun time for all. I have a few pictures up here, but I didn't take too many, because after the weather got bad, we put my camera in the car for the rest of the day.

Today, I got to work at a conference-type fair-thing that my job offers to all the employees who work where I work. Because I am a member of the committee in charge of putting on this conference, I got to work all day at said conference. It was a nice break from the everyday routine of the office. I was in charge of pizza serving, and it was a good time because I was in good company. As a perk of being on the committee, I also got hooked up with all kinds of Hickory Crawdad's goodies! Not only did I get a jersey with my last name on the back, but I also got a whole slew of Crawdad's souvenirs! AND a giant box of Cracker Jacks! Take me out to the ball game- I'm ready!

I'm gonna be an aunt!!!

I can finally talk about it!!!! My sister Pigs is knocked up! woo hoo!!! There will be a little piglet in October, and it will be spoiled rotten by your's truly. (It's favorite aunt ever. Technically, I'm the only aunt, so I guess I will be the favorite by default, but that's okay too.) I'm so excited that there's going to be a teeny-tiny baby at Christmas! This has been the worst secret ever to keep, and I've known since the beginning of March. I really had to keep quiet at our cousin's wedding a couple of weeks ago because Pigs was a bridesmaid and didn't want to tell anyone so that it could be Melissa's day. I had to drink for two the whole weekend so no one would be suspicious. (Not really, but we thought about it.) I also had to keep quiet about it to anyone who reads her blog. Not an easy task! Whew, but now I can speak freely. I think it will be a boy because that seems to be the way the Bug girl's are going. Pigs and I have all female cousins on the Bug side of the family, and so far, they've only had boys. We'll know for sure in a few weeks though. So, go over to Pig's Blog and congratulate her!

We're baaaaack. (Unfortunately.)

Our trip to Savannah was so nice. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather! I have a new favorite drink- an Attitude Improvement from Wet Willie's. mmmm.... good stuff. We did a lot of good eating and drinking all weekend. Friday night, we went on a haunted pub crawl. (Until I got the hiccups, and we had to leave early.) We walked along River St. and downtown all day Saturday. Did some shopping, got some sun. Sunday, we drove to Tybee Island for a day at the beach. The weather was perfect- not a cloud in the sky. Got a little too much sun, but that's okay. I took lots of pictures of boats because our hotel room was right on the river, and there were lots and lots of boats going by our window. You can see all of my pictures here.

Hickory Hops is Saturday!!! yay!!! Lots of friends are coming to town for that!

"No drinking or drugs"... because they may interfere with the roofies.

NO WORK TOMORROW!!!

Happy Easter weekend everyone! Daniel and I leave tonight for Saluda, SC where we are staying with his Granny until tomorrow morning. Then we are headed to Savannah, GA for a fun, relaxing long weekend. We're going to do the city/tourist-thing Saturday, and the beach-bum-thing Sunday, then we come back on Monday.
I feel bad leaving the kitties alone for a long weekend, but Allison is the best kitty-sitter ever and will take good care of them. It was all I could do to leave for work this morning... Maggie has found the string I hid from her a few months ago and is once again obsessed with it. She wanted me to play with her this morning, and I didn't have time. Her "please play with me" face broke my heart! It looked a lot like this:
Sunshine Maggie
Oh, did I mention her birthday is tomorrow and we won't be there? My baby girl is growing up! She'll be 3 years old tomorrow! It seems like just yesterday when she looked like this:
Maggie as a baby. Maggie when she was a baby. My baby girl!!!!

Weekend Wedding Wrap-Up

What a great weekend! Friday morning, Daniel and I drove down to Charlotte so I could go to Melissa's bridesmaid luncheon at Providence Cafe hosted by my mom and sister. (I was not a bridesmaid; I was on program-duty.) The drive was horrible because, well, it was Charlotte on a Friday afternoon and we didn't know where we were going. But we made it. Daniel went to play golf that afternoon, then we all went to the rehearsal dinner that night at the Duke Mansion. (I will say it again- Best. Food. Ever.) It rained pretty much all day Saturday, but cleared up in time for the wedding late that afternoon. They got married at 5:00 in a very nice ceremony. Melissa looked soooooooo pretty in her sparkly princess dress! All of the bridesmaids looked very pretty in their pink dresses too. Pigs did a good job- no trips down the aisle, and she stayed steady on her assigned step through the whole ceremony. We were all very proud of her. ;) The reception was at the Morehead Inn, and it was fun. There was yummy food and an open bar, and lots of family I haven't seen in a long time. Daniel and I drove back that night, and took it easy all day yesterday. The poor kitties were so happy to go outside yesterday. I'm already feeling guilty about leaving them for even longer this coming weekend!

And now it's back to work again. booo. At least it's another 4-day week though since we have off Friday for Easter!

Mayesa's Getting Married!!!!!!

I am typing this in the middle of the night on the eve of my cousin's wedding. We just returned fron the rehearsal dinner, and it was so nice. I've never in my life been a steak-fan, but the filet mignon at this dinner was FAB-U-LOUS. Melissa looked absolutely beautiful in her pretty white dress with the pink bow. My dad surpised everyone with a very sweet and funny toast for Melissa. Tomorrow is the wedding, and thankfully I have a really bad cough from my allergies, so I will be in the back of the church where no one can see me crying. (I cry at ALL weddings- especially family. I've been told that I get that from my Papa Pete.)

The Sad and Lonely Exam Room 1

I went to the doctor's office this afternoon. My appointment was at 2:30, and the waiting room was empty when I got there, so I thought it would be a quick trip this time. They wooshed me back there at 2:35, weighed me, temperatured me, and blood pressured me in no time flat. I was so happy, I thought that for once, I would have a quick trip to the doctor's! ...35 minutes later, the nurse comes to check and make sure I haven't gone through the cabinets and thrown medical supplies all over the room like monkeys do with their feces. There I was, all alone in a room with 2 outdated "Prevention" magazines, a Dr. Suess book, and "The Story of The Bible". (Although, with my germ-phobia, there could've been A May 2006 issue of Cosmo sitting there, and I still wouldn't have touched it.) Finally, the doctor came in to see me at 3:20, and I was out of there by 3:25 with my new prescriptions to combat the evil spring allergies that have plagued me for the past 3 weeks. I suppose it was worth the ridiculously long and lonely wait, but why do they do that? I'd much rather stay in the waiting room until the doctor is ready for me. At least there I can people-watch!

In other news, if you had major surgery in which your stomach is sliced wide open, and body parts are removed, would you return to work the following week even though you are unable to bend over, lift anything, cross your legs, or walk comfortably? Some of the women here are crazier than others...
