I'm baaaaack!

Yes, I did get a little slack after my double post in one day thing... bygones. Friday afternoon, I left work at 3 to head to Wilmington to see Monica!!! (For those of you who don't already know, Monica and I met our freshman year at Applachian when we lived on the same dorm floor, then we shared a dorm room together for 3 years after that.) She is my bestest friend in the whole wide world!!!
But she lives almost 300 miles away from me now! Since it was the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, it took me 6 hours to get down there. Yikes. We went out that night and met up with Cheryl and her boyfriend at the Sidebar downtown. We got to dance and had a good time until there was a big fight with a beer bottle cracked over someone's head, and blood smeared on a few innocent bystanders.... Saturday morning, Monica and I got up early to go to the beach! We went to Fort Fisher which is a state park/beach to get some sunshine. Very nice place. That night we went to a party her friends were having, so I got to meet more of her friends. Oh, and her boyfriend Neil was there too, but he left early because I think he thinks I don't like him.... Sunday, we went out to lunch (where Neil stood us up even though it was his idea...), and I left from there. It only took me 4 hours to get home! I'm glad I didn't leave yesterday when traffic would've been really bad like it was Friday.
Yesterday afternoon, Daniel, Andrea, John, Barbara, and I went to River Bend Park and had a Memorial Day cook-out! It was a perfect day for it, and the food was yuuuumy. Then my throat started hurting last night, and I am home sick today. :( Andrea had a bad cold that started with a sore throat last week. I hope mine is just allergies.

A Complete Mess

Look at me with 2 posts in one day! Woah! I had to share what I work with everyday. One of my co-workers is the messiest pack-rat I have ever known in my entire life. She has newspapers from years ago somewhere under the pile of mess, she has post-it notes, pistachios, pens, stuffed animals, flags, plants, pictures, calendars..... you name it- it's on her desk somewhere. And somehow she knows exactly where every little thing is. The fire marshall has warned her many times that she needs to clean out her area, but that will never happen. We worry for our safety when we have to leave her a note- we fear the that pile might shift and we may never see the light of day again! I have told people about the state of her desk, but I really don't think they truly understand the extent of messiness that I am talking about. So, today, I took pictures to share it with everyone... Make sure you click on the pictures so you can see the large version- they are a little blurry, but pretty good for a cameraphone! This is her work area from left to right:

It's so hard to be me, I know.

Well, it looks like I might have to give up my pretty pink phone. :( There's a problem with the software on it. Instead of the screen on the front having the same wallpaper as the inside, it's ORANGE and RED. On a PINK phone. UGLY. And very annoying. So, either I'll trade it in for a pink one that does work, or I'll have to get the boring silver one like Daniel's. Boo. I do love the razr though. At first, I didn't like the size of it. (Too big compared to my old phone.) But then I learned some of the really nice features, and now I'm a big fan. Yay expensive phone! (That I got a super deal on because Verizon rocks.)

PINK!

Last night, Daniel and I went to Verizon for some new phonage. I got the Pink Razr, and he got the silver one. Yes, we have matching phones now. Aren't we just cute enough to knock in the head with a metal pipe? Last week, my Nalgene bottle bit the dust, and I ordered a new one which came in the mail yesterday. So, as of last night, I have become an official girlie-girl with my pink phone, and my pink water bottle. When did that happen?!

For those of you who know Daniel, you know that this is his first cell phone EVER. So, we are getting rid of our home phone, and switching to cell phones only. Yep, lose our home number, 'cause it won't work anymore!

Dear Mom and Dad,

Maggie and I are very sorry for our little adventure last night. Once the window screen fell out and we went with it, we didn't want to bother you to come outside and watch us play like you usually do. You were watching the tv, and you were having such a nice time. We didn't know that it was bedtime and you couldn't find us, so you were really worried about us. I saw you close the blinds to the window we fell out of, so I thought you didn't want us to come back inside. Maggie said she heard you calling for us outside, and I saw Dad's truck leave the house real slow- that scared me 'cause it's so loud. That was when I jumped over that fence. Maggie was a bit perturbed when you teased her with the treats, then snatched her up and threw her in the house. I heard you calling me, but I couldn't get to you! All I could do was call back to you and run back and forth along that fence. Then I was so happy when you finally saw me with your flashlight! Dad really scared me when he jumped over that fence. I didn't know it was him in the dark! And he was coming at me, so of course I ran away from him! That stupid fence got in my way again though. Mom, I'm really sorry that I fussed and fought with you all the way through the recreation area when you were carrying me back to the house. I was so scared and confused, and I really didn't understand why I couldn't stay outside any longer. Anyway, we understand why you left the windows closed today. Maybe we can go outside to play this afternoon? I promise we won't go too far away...

Love,
Buddha and Maggie

Putt Putt and Meatwads and Weddings oh my.

It was a quick whirlwind of a fun weekend. Friday night was the annual WhooPaCOG Putt Putt tournament. Doug won the whole thing, Scott was 2nd place. I don't know how everyone else did- I never looked at the scoreboard. After that, we all went to Allison's where we got to play with the Meatwad. We put him in a fishbowl because it's fun to do that:

Saturday, we went up to the Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock for Laurie and Mike's wedding. It was a very nice reception with lots of yummy food and free booze. After the kegs went dry, we headed to Canyon's, but that didn't go well because some people didn't behave very well. So, we headed down to the Boone Saloon (used to be Caribbean Cafe) in Boone. Much fun was had, and many many many pictures were taken. They can be seen here.
Monica is in town until tomorrow, so hopefully I will see her either for lunch or supper today. If not, I guess it doesn't really matter, because I'm going to Wilmington to see her this weekend! Yay!

Come on and join us for a baby shower! Any time is fine! Just come on by that day!

Sooooooo, yesterday? I went on-line and ordered these really nice invitations for my sister's baby shower? And today? I went to the website to look at the beautiful masterpiece that I had carefully and thoughtfully created? And realized that I put all the information on them except for the time of day when the shower will take place...... DOH! I can't contact the company because they feel very strongly about editing after placing your order, and it's a BIG no-no to do that. So, now I will have to find a marker to match the ink, and hand-write in the date. Classy.

Someone finally took a picture of the pot at the end of the rainbow!!!

What the Hail?!

It's really funny when your cats are out in the yard watching the birds in the trees, enjoying the sunshine... When all of a sudden, a massive hail storm comes from out of nowhere! I've never seen my cats run so fast.

(Yes, I do realize that I have issues with public restrooms.)

Why, oh, why do people disrespect other people's personal space in a public restroom? I thought I was the only one with this problem, but a friend of mine brought it up at supper the other night too. Here's the situation: There are 4 stalls in the bathroom. Why, when I am in the first stall, must the next person in the bathroom use stall #2 directly next to me? There are 2 others open and available- use those and respect personal space! Thank you.

The weekend is near!

Ahhhh, I heart my new blog...

Last night after work, I joined some of the ladies from my office for a girl's night out. It was nice to meet some of the women who work here that I never see, and we had a really good time! (Even if we did eat at Buffalo Wild Wings and I got a chicken quesadilla that set my mouth on FIRE.) Even so... good times....

Laurie and I are going to get pedicures after work today! My first of the season, her first ever! Tomorrow night, Daniel's brother is coming to town. He's meeting us for supper at El Paso (mmmmm), then Saturday we're all going up to Boone for a daycation. Mom and Dad are staying in the million dollar home in Blowing Rock again, so we're going to stop by and "GAAAAWWWWLLY" a few times at the montrosity that is this house. Daniel's brother Jebidiah will be particularly amazed:

A new look?

What do you think? I goofed and deleted my entire template this morning, so I thought it might be time for a new look since I have to re-do it all anyway. I can't decide if I like this one or not... If I decide I like it, I'll put some time into adding my blogroll onto it. If I decide I don't like it, I'll try something different. We'll see. It's kind of summery though, huh? Let me know whatcha think.

whew.

Well, it's over. I took my exam this morning, but I won't find out my score for a few weeks. Please visit over here for a fun look at what I was learning this week. It truly was the most boring class I've ever had to sit through. And now I have to go back to work today! Can you believe that? After this awful week, I am expected to return to the office for the remaining hours of Friday afternoon. hmmph. That's just WRONG. My brain is complete mush, so they'd better not expect any quality work to come out of me. And if anyone tries to talk about what I've learned this week? I may have to knock them upside the head with the back of my hand.
Thankfully, tonight is Cinco de Mayo!!!! Boy do am I ready for a few beers! Hopefully the weather will clear up enough for us to sit on the porch at El Paso. Tomorrow, Daniel and I are driving down to Columbia, SC for Katie's graduation from USC. They are going to have a big picnic lunch in a park that day and then we'll probably all go out that night. It will be fun to see everyone! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I'm gonna have a little nephew!

Yay! It's a Boy! Yep, I was right. I guessed right that it's a boy. You can all bow down to me later.

So, this week some of you may notice my absence in emails. I am taking the oh-so-exciting class of "North Carolina Property Tax Listing and Assessing". Oh yes, it's as fun as it sounds. Luckily, the class is in Hickory which means no hotel or traveling for me during the week of my anniversary! (Yep, 3 years tomorrow!)

Last weekend was fun. Saturday night, a bunch of us got together at Allison's new house to celebrate her birthday and her new house. We didn't get home until 4am, and it was much fun. Pictures can be seen here. Sunday afternoon, Daniel, Andrea, and I went to Nagano's for some good eatin', then we went to River Bend Park with Laurie to walk off the night before. It was a great day for it, but I was reeeeeally tired. That night, we grilled out and Andrea stayed for supper. Yesterday, Daniel and I met Allison and Andrea at the animal shelter where Allison got a reeeeeeeally cute baby named Meatwad. He's adorable, and Maggie and Buddha can't wait to meet their new cousin! I'm not sure what the plan for this weekend is yet. I know that Friday will be our annual Cinco de Mayo celebration at El Paso, but that's all I know. Daniel's cousin Katie is graduating from USC Saturday, so we may go down to Columbia to see everyone for that. Gas is so freakin' expensive though, so I don't know if we'll drive all the way down there or not.

Anywho, head on over to Pigs' Blog and congratulate her on the baby boy news! Hope everyone has a good week- I will return for email entertainment on Monday!
